Somewhere in Between

~
She went to bed at 6pm last night. She woke up at 2:30am. She is calm. She asked for something hot to drink. I made her some tea. We haven't been up this early before, but I am not tired today because I went to bed at 7pm.

Yesterday we had a visit from my daughter-in-law and my 2 grandsons, ages 4 and 3. She was happy to see them all. During the visit, my 4-year old grandson tried to hug Josemeana and she said, "If you hit me, I will hit you back". She looked so mean that it hurt his little heart. He cried. While consoling him, I told him that great grandma is not in her right mind. She did not mean to hurt him. She is confused, but we still love her anyway. Maybe I should keep my grandsons away from her. She was only mean for that incident. She was nice and quite for the rest of the visit.

  1. But children bring joy to the elderly :o) I try to prepare my 6 yr old for when we visit Mama. He knows that she is sick sometimes, but she loves us very much.

  2. I have 3 grandsons that come over regularly. They have seen the progressive decline with mom these past several years. She use to just fuss at them whenever they did something she thought they shouldn't be doing, like taking toys out of the toybox and putting them on the floor! She would just holler at them for it. Other things too she would holler at them, so I had to correct her for it and let her know they weren't doing anything wrong and to leave them alone. She would get frustrated, and they were just puzzeled. Doesn't happen to much now, as she is not up but only in the morning, and her thinking does not connect very often with what they are doing. Good thing, or not, depends on how you look at it I guess. The boys are 5,4, and 3 now.
I have some pics of her and the boys on my blogsite, going back to before she really started to decline.
